Description

Also known as Beautiful Leatherjacket, Leatherjacket, Stars-and-Stripes Filefish.

Found singly, or in pairs, close to sponge areas, of deep coastal reefs.
They feed on invertebrates and zooplankton.
Juveniles found in kelp beds.
Length - 21cm
Depth - 5-100m
Indo-West Pacific - Australia

Filefish can alter their colour and pattern to match their surrounds and so deter predators.
