Also known as Doctorfishes, Lancetfishes, Paletail Unicornfish, Brown Unicornfish, Long Nose Unicornfish, Longnosed Unicornfish, Long-snouted Unicornfish, Spotted Unicorn Tang, Unicorn Naso Tang, Unicorn Surgeonfish and Long-nose Doctor Fish.
Found in small groups on upper parts of inner and outer reef slopes.
Can quickly change colour with mood.
They feed on plankton and algae.

Depth - 2-46m
Widespread Indo-Pacific
Surgeonfish have a blade like spine in the tail that points outwards when bent, unicorns have two hook-like plates along the tail, these are used for defence and are as sharp as a surgeons scalpel, hence the name "Surgeonfish".
Some species are venomous.
