Description

Also known as Yellow-saddle Goatfish, Yellow-saddled Goatfish and Bright-saddled Goatfish.

Found in pairs or small schools on inner and outer reefs hovering along the sand feeding.
Juveniles often bright yellow and adults turn to blue but not always.
Colours highly variable
They feed on small fish and invertebrates.
Length - 38cm
Depth - 10-60m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Goatfish have two barbels extending form the chin, these are used to probe the sand for food such as worms, brittle stars, crustaceans and small fish.
They often have other fish in tow which hoover up any creatures left behind.
