Description

Also known as Crowned Pufferfish, Crowned Puffer, Crowned Sharpnose Puffer, Crowned Toby, Three-barred Puffer, Four-bar Pufferfish.

Found singly, in lagoons and seaward reefs with rubble areas.
They feed on small invertebrates and algae.
Length - 14cm
Depth - 10-80m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific

The bodies of Pufferfish are covered in a toxic mucus, if the skin or flesh is consumed it can be fatal to humans.
When threatened they will puff up like a football to deter predators. (edit)
