Found in pairs or family groups, hovering just above the bottom, close to their burrows, over rubble and sand bottoms, of silty estuaries, inlets, outer lagoon reefs, and deep coastal slopes, of seaward reefs.
They feed on zooplankton.

Widespread Indo-Pacific

These cute little fish usually in pairs but sometimes in groups can be found hovering directly above the ocean floor, facing the current to catch their food.
