Description

Also known as Black Rudderfish, Butterfish, Driftfish.

Found singly, or in schools, in deep rocky canyons of the continental shelf.
They feed on large pelagic crustaceans, small fish, molluscs, and squid.
Juveniles found in schools, over surface waters, and under floating debris, including barrels, boxes, and wood.
Length - 90cm
Depth - 1-1000m
Widespread Atlantic Ocean, Western Mediterranean
