Description

Also known as Crustaceans, Box Crabs, Shame-faced Crabs, Arrow Box Crab, Giant Box Crab and Armed Box Crab.

Found on coral and rocky reefs over sandy areas moving slowly along sandy bottoms.
They feed on plankton and invertebrates.
Length - 12cm
Depth - 18-120m
Widespread Pacific

Box crab are named because of the way they can tuck their legs into their bodies giving the appearance of a neat box. Shame-faced is from the way their claws fold in in front of their face, as if hiding it in shame. (edit)
