Description

Also known as Chrysurus Surgeonfish, Doctorfish, Indonesian Sawtail Tang, Lancetfish, Thorntail, Thorntail Fish, Yellowtail Sawtail, Yellowtail Surgeonfish.

Found singly, pairs, or in loose schools, over rocky outcrops of surge zones.
They feed on benthic algae.
Length - 30cm
Depth - 5-40m
Western Pacific - Indonesia

Surgeonfish have a blade like spine in the tail that points outwards when bent, unicorns have two hook-like plates along the tail, these are used for defence and are as sharp as a surgeons scalpel, hence the name "Surgeonfish".
