Also known as Bigeye Snapper, Blackspot Bigeye, Bullseye, Common Bigeye, Crescent-tail Bigeye, Duskyfin Bullseye, Dusky-finned Bigeye, Dusky-finned Bullseye, Goggle Eye, Lunartail Bigeye, Lunar-tailed Bigeye, Luner-tailed Bullseye, Luner-tailed Glasseye, Lunar-tailed Glassy, Moontail Bigeye, Red Bigeye, Red Bullseye, Spot-finned Bullseye.

Found singly or in small schools, during the day sheltering close to coral heads and under ledges, dispersing at night to feed, over deep lagoons and outer reef slopes.
They feed on crustaceans, small fish, and invertebrates.

Widespread Indo-Pacific
