Description

Found singly on protected coral and rocky reefs on slopes and drop-off's.
They feed mainly on algae, but will also feed on sponges, crustaceans and molluscs.
Juvenile babies green with black spots changing to yellow with black spots before changing to the adult greys, yellow and blues.

The bodies of Boxfish are covered in a toxic mucus which can be released when stressed.
