Description

Also known as Whitebar Leatherjacket, Hair-finned Leatherjacket, Pig Faced Leatherjacket and White-blotched Filefish.

Found singly or in small groups on shallow coral reefs, sand flats and slopes with weedy patches.
They feed on invertebrates and algae.
Length - 13cm
Depth - 1-25m
Widespread Indo-Asian Pacific

Filefish can alter their colour and pattern to match their surrounds and so deter predators.
Although closely related to the Triggerfish, their "trigger spine" cannot be locked into place. (edit)
