Description
Also known as Hexacorals, Tube Anemones, Glass Anemones, Tube-dwelling Anemone and Cerianthus Anemone.
Found singly on coral and rocky reefs in cracks or buried in sandy substrate.
Varies in colour
They feed on zooplankton.
Width - 30cm
Depth - 0-25m
Widespread Indo-Pacific
Tube anemones can be found all around the world in all depths.
They build their tubes with grains of sand and other materials, then discharge stinging cells which solidify into slime. They extend their tentacles out to collect plankton, withdrawing if they sense danger.
