Description
Also known as Dog-toothed Cardinalfish, Dogtooth Cardinal and Tailspot Cardinalfish.
Found in pairs or groups in deep lagoons within the branches of staghorn coral, sheltering during the day coming out at night to feed on small fish, zooplankton and bottom dwelling crustaceans.
Juveniles singly.
Length - 11cm
Depth - 5-20m
Widespread Indo-Pacific
Males incubate their eggs inside their mouths, as the egg masses increase in size they can be found with wide open mouths where they shift the eggs around to aerate the egg masses.
