Description

Also known as Pacific Tiger Cardinalfish, Large Toothed Cardinalfish, Eightlined Cardinalfish and Bigtooth Percelle.

Found singly, pairs or small groups in sheltered clear lagoons, seaward reefs below overhangs and in caves, sheltering during the day coming out at night to feed on zooplankton and bottom dwelling crustaceans.

Depth - 2-40m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Males incubate their eggs inside their mouths, as the egg masses increase in size they can be found with wide open mouths where they shift the eggs around to aerate the egg masses.
