Description

Also known as Shrimp Gobies, Sandy Shrimpgoby, Pale Shrimpgoby, Fierce Shrimpgoby, Sandy Prawngoby and Sandy Partner Goby.

Found with Alpheus djiboutensis Snapping Shrimp usually in pairs in shallow lagoons on mixed white sand flats and rubble areas.
They feed on tiny invertebrates and zooplankton.
Length - 7.5cm
Depth - 5-20m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Shrimp Gobies live a symbiotic relationship with snapping shrimps.
The Gobies stand guard while the shrimps play "housekeeper" to their burrow, continually digging and cleaning the sand. The Gobies will signal when predators are near.
