Description

Also known as Radial Leatherjacket, Flower-coral Filefish, Flower-coral Leatherjacket and Indo-Australian Filefish.

Found singly in lagoons and coastal reefs close to soft corals.
They feed on invertebrates and algae.
Length - 7cm
Depth - 2-12m
Widespread Asian Pacific

Filefish can alter their colour and pattern to match their surrounds and so deter predators.
Although closely related to the Triggerfish, their "trigger spine" cannot be locked into place. (edit)
