Description

Also known as Grubfish, Sandsmelts, Weevers, Nosestripe Grubfish, Nose-line Sandperch, Nose-line Grubfish, Y-Barred Sandperch and Y-Barred Grubfish.

Found singly or in small groups on sand and rubble areas near reefs.
They feed on small animals and zooplankton.
Length - 12cm
Depth - 5-35m
Widespread Asian Pacific

Sandperches live in the sand under solid pieces of reef, a single dominant male lives with a small harem of females. Not a very shy fish, is happy to sit and watch the world go by! (edit)
