Description

Also known as Stripe-face Cardinalfish, Striped-face Cardinalfish, Bar-face Cardinalfish and Bar-faced Cardinalfish.

Found in in pairs or small groups in lagoons and harbours, sheltering during the day coming out at night to feed on zooplankton and bottom dwelling crustaceans.
Length - 7cm
Depth - 2-20m
Restricted to the Maldives

Males incubate their eggs inside their mouths, as the egg masses increase in size they can be found with wide open mouths where they shift the eggs around to aerate the egg masses.
