Found in oxygen depleted turbid waters, over detritus, mud and sandy bottoms, of lakes, ponds and springs.
They feed on small fish and macro-invertebrates.

Depth - 3-10m
Widespread Central America

A freshwater fish often seen in the aquarium trade.
