Description

Also known as Coral Bream, Seabream, Sheepshead Bream, Sheepshead Sea Bream.

Found singly or in small schools, over rock and sandy bottoms in coastal surf zones.
They feed on crustaceans, molluscs, seaweeds and worms.
Juveniles found in lagoons and rock pools.
Length - 60cm
Depth - 0-150m
Widespread Eastern Atlantic, Black Sea, Mediterranean

Porgies are found in tropical as well as cooler waters, and are bottom-dwelling carnivores. Most species possess grinding, molar-like teeth, for eating crustaceans.
