Description

Also known as Bar-tail Goatfish, Bar-tailed Goatfish, Dark-band Goatfish and Mottled Goatfish.

Found singly or in small groups in sand and rubble areas of silty coastal harbours to outer reefs.
They feed on small fish and invertebrates.
Length - 30cm
Depth - 25m
Widespread Indo-Asian Pacific

Goatfish have two barbels extending form the chin, these are used to probe the sand for food such as worms, brittle stars, crustaceans and small fish.
They often have other fish in tow which hoover up any creatures left behind.
