Description

Also known as Fingerprint Sharpnose Puffer and Compressed Toby.

Found singly in silty bays, reef flats and harbours often around wharf pilings. Adults usually in pairs.
They feed on invertebrates and algae.
Length - 10cm
Depth - 2-25m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

The bodies of Pufferfish are covered in a toxic mucus, if the skin or flesh is consumed it can be fatal to humans.
When threatened they will puff up like a football to deter predators.
