Description

Also know as Apogon properuptus and Southern Orange-lined Cardinalfish.

Found in pairs or small groups on sheltered reef slopes, near coral and rocky areas, sheltering during the day coming out at night to feed on zooplankton and bottom dwelling crustaceans.
Length - 7.5cm
Depth - 2-15m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific

Males incubate their eggs inside their mouths, as the egg masses increase in size they can be found with wide open mouths where they shift the eggs around to aerate the egg masses. (edit)
