Also known as Comet Grouper, Comet Marine Betta, Cometfish, Devilfish, Longfin, Marine Betta, Marine Betta Comet, Marine Betta Grouper, Mimic Roundhead.

Found singly, hiding during the day in caves, crevices, holes, and under ledges, close to drop-offs and reefs.
They feed nocturnally on crustaceans and small fish.
Length - 20cm
Depth - 3-50m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

The Comet is a shy and secretive fish not usually observed during the day.
When alarmed it will poke its head into a hole, leaving the tail out with the eye spot showing to mimic the head of a moray eel. Ref: https://www.fishbase.se/summary/12655
