Description

Also known as Trevallies, Caranx coeruleopinnatus, Caranx caeruleopinnatus, Coastal Trevally, Onion Trevally, Japanese Trevally and Coastal Kingfish.

Found singly or in pairs in inner reefs and lagoons often in silty waters.
Has a deeper body than other trevallies.
Juveniles strongly banded but loose the bands with age.
They feed 40cm
Depth - 5-60m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Jacks are fast swimming fish that can roam over great distances. The larger fish hunt other fish and the smaller fish eat zooplankton. In turn they are hunted by large Tuna and Dolphins. (edit)
