Also known as Bobtail Squids, Pygmy Squids and Iridescent Squid.
Found in shallow coastal waters and lagoons often buried in the sand or muck bottoms with just the eyes showing.
They feed nocturnally on fish and crustaceans.
These squid have a glue gland on their backs so they can cover themselves in sand for camouflage. There is also a light organ in their bellies, that hosts bioluminescnt bacteria which produces the iridescent colours.

Depth - 5-25m
Widespread West pacific
Some of the smallest squids, they can change colour when predators come near.
