Description

Also known as Blotched Grinner, Blotched Lizardfish, Blotched Saury, Clouded Grinner, Clouded Saury, Gracile Lizardfish, Nebulous Lizardfish.

Found singly or in pairs half buried or resting on eel-grass, mud, rock and sand of silty inshore bottoms near estuaries, mangroves, seagrass beds and streams.
They feed on small fish.
Length - 16cm
Depth - 0-100m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Lizardfish are experts at camouflage, they lie in wait for their prey lying on top of the sand or buried with just their heads showing. Their jaws have one or more lines of needle-like teeth.
